Today my family and I went to a maple syrup making farm. We go almost every year and take the tour and see how maple syrup is made and things like that. It is always a lot of fun. I love their syrup! We also met a family we knew and hadn't seen for a long time there. We also saw a co-worker and his wife from Dad's work. It was pretty cool! Unfortunately, I did not get any pics of the friends we met there but I did get some of the farm. I don't understand much of how maple syrup is made, it was kind of hard to hear with everything so loud, but it still was a good learning experience. Here's some shots...
The sigh welcoming us to the maple fest.
There were free pancakes as well. Anyone who goes be sure to get one! They're pretty good.
Inside the store there were taste samples. Many of the salsas were amazing!
A display of Maple Syrup. I like how the light reflects on the glass.
And now some pictures of the tour...
A man (the father of the man who owns the farm) running the thing (I can't remember the name) that boils down the sap into syrup. Here's an intersting fact. It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup!
They usually get 5 gallons of syrup made in a half hour.
It was in a kettle like this that maple syrup used to be boiled down in. There really isn't sap in the kettle shown, it was just a display.
And of course, we were in Packers territory which is clearly shown by the helmet below...
Sue and I made sure to go armed to the teeth. :)
We had a great time.
